A Guide to Tubing Options at TAP Plastics

TAP Plastics carries a wide variety of tubing options for different applications. Most of these tubes can be cut to length—check with your local TAP store or visit our website for details on available diameters and lengths. Here’s an overview of the tubing options we offer and their common uses.

Extruded Acrylic Tubing

  • Cost-effective choice for clear tubing needs.

  • Less suitable for machining and polishing compared to cast acrylic due to its lower heat distortion point.

  • Ideal for reinforcing decorative work in POP (Point of Purchase) displays.

  • Available in vibrant colors, making it excellent for decorative and artistic uses.

Cast Acrylic Tubing

  • Superior optical clarity, high tensile strength, and excellent light transmission properties.

  • Easily fabricated and machined.

  • Unaffected by sunlight and maintains stability across a wide range of conditions.

  • Common applications include display cases, hobbyist projects, and crafters’ work.

  • Lighting white cast tubing is great for a variety of lighting projects.

Other Tubing Options

Polycarbonate Tubing

  • Comes in a variety of diameters.

  • Commonly used for LED light covers, medical devices, and packaging due to its strength and durability.

Vinyl Tubing

  • Versatile with thousands of uses, such as airlines, drain lines, and refrigeration applications.

  • Available in various diameters and sold by the length or in 50-foot rolls.

Full-Length Tubing Options (Not Available for Custom Cutting)

Pultruded Carbon Tubes

  • Designed for maximum rigidity with minimal weight.

  • 70% lighter than steel, 40% lighter than aluminum, and three times the stiffness of either for the same weight.

Epoxy Tubing

  • Used in kites, tents, and applications requiring impact resistance.

Lamp Guards

  • 1-5/8-inch outside diameter tubes designed to protect fluorescent tubes.

  • Available in a variety of colors.

  • Standard lengths: 46-1/4 inches; Clear also available in 92-1/4 inches.

PETG Mailing Tubes

  • Made from PETG plastic, an excellent material for shipping rolled materials that need protection from damage.
