A Guide to Picture Framing Options at TAP Plastics

Framing pictures, posters, or menus doesn’t have to be limited to traditional picture frames. TAP Plastics offers a variety of framing options that are both stylish and functional. These options fall into two categories: freestanding and wall-mounted frames.

Freestanding Framing Options

  • Convenient for moving around the home or office.

  • Available in options that hold double photos.

  • Holds pictures in a vertical orientation.

  • Allows visibility from both sides, making it great for menus and commercial displays.

Euro Sign Holders

  • Available in sizes from 4" x 6" to 8.5" x 11".

  • Features brushed metal standoffs for a modern and clean look.

  • Can be oriented vertically or horizontally.

  • Can be customized with colored acrylic for a unique aesthetic.

  • Green edge acrylic can create a glass-like appearance.

  • Fluorescent acrylic for a glowing frame edge.

  • Opaque acrylic can be used to frame the picture distinctly.

Wall-Mounted Framing Options

Swiss Clip System

  • Uses stainless corner and side clips.

  • Available in three package sizes:

    • Small: Side clips only.

    • Medium: Includes corner clips.

    • Large: Comes with both side and corner clips.

  • Works with acrylic or glass (acrylic is recommended for safety and durability).

  • Recommended acrylic thickness: 1/8" to 3/16".

  • Supports a maximum combined thickness of 3/8".

  • Backing material options:

    • Mat board (lightweight but not rigid).

    • Foam core (lightweight and easy to cut).

    • Foamed PVC (adds rigidity and is lightweight).

    • Plywood (excellent rigidity; 3/16" thickness recommended).

  • Installation Steps:

    1. Place acrylic on a clean flat surface and remove the masking from the inside.

    2. Clean with a microfiber cloth and an anti-static cleaner like Brilliant Eyes (avoid paper towels as they can scratch).

    3. Place the picture and backing onto the acrylic.

    4. Attach corner clips and space out the side clips evenly.

    5. Secure the side clips by pushing the locking pin into the backing.

    6. Tie the included string around all four corner clips and secure under tension.

    7. Install the hanger bracket (pounded into wood or glued for other materials).

Alternative Framing Methods

Plastic Screw Mounting

  • Uses plastic screws to attach the front and back acrylic pieces.

  • Select a backing color and have TAP Plastics cut it to size.

  • Drill 1/4" holes in the corners (TAP Plastics can do this for you).

  • Secure the pieces with screws and nuts.

  • Hanging Options:

Non-Glare Acrylic Option

  • Recommended for front-facing pieces to reduce glare.

  • Provides clear visibility while minimizing distracting reflections.
