What Is a Clear Acrylic Tube?

Rigid plexiglass tubing has become a common alternative to materials such as metal, wood and PVC. Our acrylic tubes have excellent resistance to impacts, weather and chemicals. They do not rust or corrode, making them suitable for high-humidity and damp environments. Finally, acrylic is a cost-effective material that saves you money.

An acrylic cylinder is 10 times stronger than glass while offering a crystal-clear view of what’s inside. If the acrylic gets scratched, you can polish it back to a smooth, clear shine. We should note that extruded clear plastic tubes do not machine and polish as well as cast acrylic and other plastics. Options range from 1/8-inch inside diameter (ID) tubes for basic framing and crafting to 5.75-inch ID tubes that can hold tennis balls, snacks and more. Our standard plexiglass tube orders are cut in three-foot or six-foot lengths. However, custom cut clear acrylic tube lengths are available. Just choose “Other” in the Length menu and provide the measurement using the Comments and Instructions form as you check out. We offer flexible length options for 6-foot rod, tube, and rollstock materials.
To help you avoid costly carrier surcharges, choose the option that works best for your needs:

  • Standard 6-Foot Length (Oversize)
    Carrier-mandated oversize fee applies due to package dimensions exceeding 48”. This charge is added by UPS/FedEx—not TAP Plastics—and covers manual handling of long items. Only one oversize fee is applied per order.

  • Cut at 3-Foot Lengths (No Oversize Fee)
    We'll cut your item in half at no additional cost to help you avoid the oversize shipping charge. Perfect for smaller projects or convenient handling.

  • Custom Length (Specify in Checkout Comments)
    Need specific sizes? Select “Other (specified in comments).”
    Custom cutting is available—some requests may incur a labor fee. We’ll contact you with details before processing.

ⓘ Why the Fee?
UPS and FedEx charge extra for packages over 48" long—including required padding—for manual handling. These oversize fees apply on top of regular shipping rates, and may also apply to heavy or extra-long packages. TAP applies a flat fee to help cover these added carrier costs.
