Cut to size orders are cut with table and CNC panel saws and have a cut tolerance of +/- 1/32". Plastic sheets have a thickness tolerance of +/- 10% and can have thickness variations throughout the sheet. Cut to size items cannot be returned for a refund or exchange.

Sheet sizes, colors, thicknesses and products available on our website are available at TAP Plastics stores.

King ColorCore® is a multi-layer, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) sheet designed for premium outdoor signage, labels, displays, and recreational applications. Made in the USA using King Plastic's proprietary PolyFusion™ process, these homogeneous sheets feature a contrasting cap and core color ideal for CNC engraving. Unlike laminated or printed surfaces, the color layers run throughout, ensuring long-lasting readability without the risk of delamination, rust, or rot.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Engravable Cap Layer: Cap thickness typically .050" (check depth before cutting). CNC users often cut 0.075" to reveal the core color with clarity.

  • CNC Optimized: Engraves cleanly with 30° or 60° v-bits for a crisp carved effect. Use sharp solid carbide bits (double o-flute or down-spiral) for best results.

  • Speed Recommendations:

    • V-bits: 20,000 RPM at 150 IPM, 0.1" depth/pass

    • 1/8" bits: 16,000 RPM at 80 IPM

    • 1/16" bits: 15,000 RPM at 60 IPM
      Always test settings with your CNC machine for optimal performance.

  • Durability: Resists impact, water, UV, and harsh weather. Ideal for marine, park, and playground signage.

  • No Painting or Refinishing Needed: ColorCore® retains its vibrant color and matte texture without coatings.

  • Chemically Resistant: Most household and commercial chemicals, including cleaners, will not harm the surface.

Maintenance & Cleaning Tips:

  • Everyday Cleaning: Use Soft Scrub® and a nylon brush. Avoid excessive force to preserve the matte finish.

  • Stubborn Stains: Try Goof Off®, Mr. Clean Magic Eraser®, or citrus-based degreasers. For petroleum-based marks, use mineral spirits, WD-40®, or acetone with a white nylon pad.

  • Avoid: Teak oils, magic markers, and uncoated metal contact, which may stain light colors. Do not use MEK or turpentine.

  • Temperature Limit: Do not expose to constant temps above 180°F.

  • Pro Tip: Light media blasting (e.g., Zendex Speed Blaster with glass beads) can reduce tool marks without damaging the texture.

Fabrication Notes:

  • Cut with standard woodworking tools (carbide blades recommended).

  • Not glueable with traditional adhesives—use stainless steel fasteners.

  • Allow for thermal expansion: 1/32" per 40°F shift.
