TAP Isophthalic High-Strength Polyester Resin

This item is a shipping hazard and can only ship via ground delivery within the continental United States.

Build tough, lightweight, and corrosion-resistant fiberglass parts with TAP High-Strength Isophthalic Polyester Resin. Engineered for demanding environments, this resin is a top choice for professionals and advanced DIYers working in marine repair, automotive customization, and industrial composite fabrication.

This low-viscosity, thixotropic polyester resin flows easily for excellent wet-out and penetration while resisting sag on vertical surfaces—making it perfect for molded surfaces, fairings, fuel-resistant enclosures, and complex layups. It is solvent, fuel, temperature, and corrosion resistant, and meets NSF-14 and MIL-R-7575C standards.

With superior strength retention, this resin is ideal for applications like:

  • Fiberglass boat hull repairs and marine part construction

  • Custom car or motorcycle bodywork and panel fabrication

  • Fuel tanks, pipes, and chemical-resistant enclosures

  • Tooling, molds, or structural panels

  • Any fiberglass-reinforced build where durability and chemical resistance matter

It gels in approximately 15–20 minutes and reaches a peak exotherm of 345°F, delivering a strong bond and high-performance finish. For best results, the final coat requires TAP Surface Curing Agent (sold separately). Catalyst (MEKP) is also sold separately.

This is the only isophthalic resin TAP offers that is FDA approvable for food-contact surfaces under CFR 21 177.2420, making it suitable for food-grade tanks and components when properly cured and formulated.
