Cars, Boats... Now a Hovercraft?
At the California Marine Academy in Vallejo, the Class of 2003 was instructed to complete a project to finish the year. Three of the students, Cameron Clark, Shawn Lee and Lester Frank, came up with the idea to build a full size working hovercraft.
With the help of TAP Plastics (El Cerrito) and other sponsors, they took on the task.
The body is 1/8" plywood reinforced with Knytex #1708m and the seams reinforced with 4" Knytex tape. The cavity is filled with X-30 Foam. The resin used is "B" Bond Coat Resin, and finished with Marine Grade Epoxy System with #109 Hardener and Red Opaque Pigment.
